KUALA LUMPUR, July 6 — Jaya Grocer and Grab Malaysia have joined the ‘Payung Rahmah’ initiative by the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN).
Its minister Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub said the implementation of this initiative aims to help reduce the burden of Malaysians following the rising cost of living in the country.
“KPDN remains committed to protecting all Malaysians and ensuring they are not burdened by the rising cost of living in today’s challenging and uncertain times.
“Hence, the ministry continues to support efforts made by the retail sectors to encourage spending by providing additional rewards to consumers,” he said at the launch of the ‘Payung Rahmah’ Initiative with Jaya Grocer and Grab Malaysia at a shopping mall, here, today.
Salahuddin said that through the collaboration, Jaya Grocer and Grab Malaysia will offer exclusive promotions through three initiatives on the Grab platform.
“It covers the Rahmah Package, which is a ‘mix & match’ package offer from as low as RM18, as well as the GrabFood Rahmah Sale, which is a discount of up to 40 per cent on daily necessities and exclusive items at Jaya Grocer through GrabMart.
“Apart from that, there is also the regular giving of ‘Bakul Rahmah’ to support drivers with disabilities (OKU) Grab and delivery partners with basic necessity boxes,” he said.
On the same note, Salahuddin said that the ‘Rahmah Economic Policy’ will be refined within the next few weeks.
“The ministry will present the Rahmah economic initiative as a new plan to continue the ‘Payung Rahmah’ initiative going forward.
“The policy is in line with the unity government’s commitment and efforts to eradicate hardcore poverty this year,” he said.
The Rahmah Economic Policy is designed to help achieve the goals of the National Economic Policy, thus increasing the country’s Gross Domestic Product.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim had previously stressed that hardcore poverty in the country should be eradicated by the end of the year.
