JOHOR BARU July 5 — Johor DAP vice-chairman Sheikh Umar Bagharib Ali today called on the federal and state governments to provide better public facilities and infrastructure, including health facilities, for Paloh.
He said the issue of public facilities in Paloh must be given due attention, to avoid any incidents after the death of a 38-year-old man at the Paloh health clinic last week.
“In addition to the ambulance service issue, there are actually many more basic infrastructures in Paloh that need to be added and upgraded.
“For example, public transport services, other health facilities such as dialysis centres, security such as fire stations, other facilities such as upgrading public markets and others,” said Sheikh Umar in a statement here,
He was commenting on the recent death allegedly due to an ambulance breakdown, which caused another ambulance to be dispatched from Kluang that arrived late.
Paloh is a semi-rural sub-district under the Kluang district. From Paloh to the Kluang town centre takes more than 30km via a trunk road and travel time by road is estimated to take around 40 minutes.
Sheikh Umar, who was also the former Paloh assemblyman, said the man’s death on June 27 had received a lot of attention, especially in relation to the delay in ambulance services.
He pointed out that Paloh is a small sub-district and if all public service amenities are only concentrated in Kluang, it will make it difficult for the people of Paloh which he said are mostly senior citizens.
