PUTRAJAYA, July 4 — PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli today called out the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition on its data showing a voter swing in its favour ahead of the six state elections.
He questioned PN’s data, saying he would release his own that shows the Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) coalitions that are currently in a joint alliance, could put up a fierce fight in Kelantan and Kedah, two states where PAS have dominated.
“I'll release it when the time comes,” he told reporters after chairing the Economy Ministry’s monthly assembly here.
The economy minister said that PN’s data claims about winning back voters lacked credibility.
“Data from June indicates that this supposed swing has faltered and if they want to make claims based on these data then they don't have much credibility.
“If you look at these data they're not much different from recent elections,” he said.
“That's why I believe some of these claims made by PN leaders are actually intended to cover their own weaknesses” he added.
The six states that must hold elections in the next two months are Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
Pundits believe the PH is unlikely to lose Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan where it ruled though its current collaboration with corruption-tainted Umno will alienate PH's core supporters and neutral Malay voters.
