KUCHING, June 28 — An assistant superintendent of police (ASP) was among three police personnel arrested for taking drugs when police raided an entertainment centre in Jalan Sungai Padungan here on Sunday.

Sarawak police commissioner Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Sapri said the ASP, a sergeant and a corporal, aged between 45 and 49, were among 152 patrons at the centre who tested positive for drugs.

“They have been arrested and are being investigated under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 after their preliminary urine tests were positive for methamphetamine and amphetamine,” he told a press conference at the state contingent police headquarters here today.

Mohd Azman said that during the raid, police also seized an assortment of drugs worth about RM197,458 and sealed properties valued at RM1.2 million.

A total of 204 customers were screened during the operation, which was conducted between 1.20am and 6am.

“Those who tested positive are aged between 19 and 54,” he added. — Bernama
