PUTRAJAYA, June 26 — Barisan Nasional (BN) has expressed its commitment to DAP in facing the upcoming state elections, said DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke.

He said BN’s commitment was expressed by BN chairman Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi who is also the deputy prime minister.

“I heard the BN chairman’s commitment is quite good. We take the commitment from the BN chairman himself, and other views, we do not take into account,” he told reporters after officiating the 3rd Annual General Meeting of the Association of Driving Training Centres Operators in Malaysia here today.

Yesterday, MCA Youth secretary-general Daniel Wa said MCA Youth suggested that the party machinery should not help any BN candidates in the state polls campaign who are arrogant after being “friends” with DAP.

Today, Ahmad Zahid said the statements of any of the main leaders from the BN component parties do not reflect the coalition’s official stance, especially in the face of the upcoming state election.

The six states that will be having state elections are Selangor, Penang, Negeri Sembilan, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu.

So far, Kelantan and Selangor have dissolved their state assemblies on Thursday and Friday respectively. — Bernama
