KUALA LUMPUR, June 22 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today confirmed that the coalition will use component party PAS’ logo for the state elections in Terengganu and Kelantan.

He said the use of the PAS flag will continue a practice that began with the 15th general election.

“As of today, we will maintain it. Kelantan and Terengganu will use the PAS logo unless the PAS leadership wants to use the PN logo. The rest will use the PN logo,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting of the seat negotiations committee.

He confirmed today that PN will contest in all 245 seats in the upcoming elections in six states.

PN will stand in 45 seats in Kelantan and 32 seats in Terengganu.

On March 21, PN secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin said the coalition’s candidates will contest using the PAS symbol for the state elections in Kelantan and Terengganu due this year.

The coalition had employed a similar strategy of using the PAS logo in areas with large Malay majorities during the 15th general election to great effect, nearly paving the way for Muhyiddin to return as the prime minister once more.

Using the PAS logo in GE15 allowed the PN coalition to dominate in Kelantan and Terengganu, winning all 22 federal seats in the two states and 73 in total across the country.
