KOTA BARU, June 20 — The Angkatan Wanita Amanah Negara (Awan) of Kelantan has submitted the names of candidates it feels are qualified to contest in the coming state election for the consideration of the party’s leadership, said its chief Dr Hafidzah Mustakim.

The Kelantan Pakatan Harapan (PH) Women’s wing deputy chief also hopes that the potential of women could be further enhanced at the party leadership level to such an extent that qualifies them to become elected representatives.

“With more women candidates in the state polls this time, we hope issues related to women and families as well as various infrastructure and socio-economic problems of the people in Kelantan can be better resolved,” she told Bernama today.

She said that it is generally acknowledged that the success of a political party relies on the strength of its women’s wing machinery in carrying out campaign activities and offering various services at the grassroots level.

Meanwhile, Kelantan PKR Women’s wing chief Nor Azmiza Mamat said she has also submitted the names of candidates for the party leadership’s consideration.

“We have decided to submit two names for the party’s consideration,” she said.

The Kelantan State Legislative Assembly, which has 45 seats, will be dissolved on Thursday (June 22) to pave the way for the state polls, which will see a stiff tussle between PAS and the coalition of Barisan Nasional (BN) and PH. — Bernama
