Fuziah: ‘Rahmah Sale’ slated for 640 state constituencies nationwide in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha

JOHOR BARU, June 15 — A Rahmah Sale, in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha, will be held in 640 state constituencies throughout the country, from June 16 to 28.

Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Fuziah Salleh said that a total of 16 items will be offered, including chicken, beef, and eggs, with a price cut of between 10 and 30 per cent from the usual market prices.

“The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry in each state will work with the respective parliamentary constituencies to hold a Rahmah Sale in each state constituency.

“Perhaps, in one state constituency, a Rahmah Sale will be held in two or three places to ensure better reach.

“The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will subsidise the goods for traders so that they can make this Rahmah Sale a success,” said Fuziah to reporters.

She said this during the national-level “2023 Majlis Perdana Gerakan Pengguna Siswa” at the Savannah Hill Resort in Ulu Tiram here today.

Present was the ministry’s deputy secretary-general Datin Roszanina Wahab and its Johor director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo.

Fuziah said the supply of goods for the coming Hari Raya Aidiladha is sufficient.

She said no price control schemes will be implemented ahead of the festival period.

In a separate development, Fuziah said the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry will expand the MYSaveFood programme, which is a campaign to save food waste and was implemented at Ramadan bazaars.

She said the target group for the implementation of the programme involves students from higher education institutions.

“We want this programme to be a success and continue. So, from now on, we will work with the higher education institutions that express their willingness to implement this programme soon, possibly after Hari Raya Aidiladha,” she said.

Fuziah added that the previous implementation of the MYSaveFood programme at Ramadan bazaars nationwide had previously managed to save as much as 25 tonnes of excess food.

She said it was estimated that the surplus food could feed about 50,000 people.
