KUALA LUMPUR, June 11 — Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Iskandar now owns Malaysia’s most expensive number plate in the Road Transport Department’s special “FF” series, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said today.

Loke said he had an audience to present Sultan Ibrahim with the “FF 1” plate this morning but the monarch instead offered to pay the government RM1.2 million for it.

“For the record, the payment of RM1.2 million is the highest value ever collected by the government for the registration of a vehicle number plate.

“This payment brings the total government revenue from the FF series number plates to RM35.4 million,” the minister said in a Facebook statement.

The FF series was launched in conjunction with the RTD’s 77th anniversary.

On May 22, Loke said that the series had netted a record high collection of RM34.29 million as of that time.
