KUALA LUMPUR, June 8 — Prospective pilgrims in the B40 and M40 categories are identified through the Rahmah Cash Aid (STR) recipient list while the T20 group is based on individual income of above RM15,000 per month.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Mohd Na’im Mokhtar said the Pilgrims Fund Board (TH) has been working with the government to cross-check information related to the income of prospective Haj pilgrims based on the existing database.

“For the 1444H/2023M Haj season, 45.7 per cent of those selected are from the B40 group, 52.3 per cent from the M40 group and two per cent from the T20 group,” he said during the Minister’s Question Time in the Dewan Rakyat, today.

He said this in reply to a question from Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN-Kuala Krai) who wanted to know the criteria used to classify the B40, M40 and T20 groups in selecting individuals to perform Haj for the 1444 Hijrah season.

On the higher Haj quota, Mohd Na’im said Malaysia has submitted an application to the Saudi Arabian government and is now awaiting the outcome of the appeal. — Bernama
