KUALA LUMPUR, June 2 — Umno secretary-general Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki today called for an end to the “blame game” among government party leaders ahead of the elections in six states.
He said the ruling parties should focus on what’s important for the country instead of their personal feelings.
“This is among what we have to contain and manage. No point if we keep on attacking each other and shoot our own foot to please certain quarters of society.
“The most important thing is focus on moving the country forward and the wellbeing of the people.
“When we form a government, it is a collective responsibility, it is a one man show, and we need to stop the blame game,” he told a press conference at the Umno headquarters here this afternoon.
Asyraf, who is also Unity Government secretary-general, was weighing in on the recent public spat between Umno supreme council member Datuk Seri Puad Zarkashi and PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli.
Puad had criticised Rafizi for delivering an “underwhelming performance” as economy minister, and claimed this sparked speculations of a Cabinet reshuffle seven months after the coalition government was out together.
Rafizi replied the next day, telling Puad not to annoy their supporters with the state elections nearing.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim asserted last week that he will not change his Cabinet line-up but invited those with ideas to write to him if they had good suggestions.
