JASIN, May 27 — Various unity-based tourism programmes will be implemented more widely in Melaka in conjunction with the Visit Melaka Year 2024 (TMM 2024), said state Health, Human Resources and Unity Committee chairman Ngwe Hee Sem.

He said the initiatives were not just to highlight or promote the unique arts and culture as well as the spirit of unity among the multi-racial community in the state but also to provide a different experience for tourists to the state.

“The state’s National Unity and Integration (JPNIN) Department will cooperate with the state’s Tourism Promotion Division to arrange more tourism programmes involving the various communities in Melaka to showcase their respective cultural and artistic identities.

“TMM 2024 is the best platform to implement such programmes because it can not only attract more visitors to Melaka but also strengthen the spirit of unity among the communities,” he said after officiating the 2023 state-level Unity Week Celebration at Dataran Orang Kampung, here, today.

He added that the celebration will also be able to increase the community’s understanding of aspects of religion, arts and the culture of certain races while, at the same time, empowering respect and fostering high tolerance between them.

Seventeen main activities will be held during the two-day programme, including Jualan Rahmah, Sarapan Rahmah, Senaman Keluarga Madani, Dialog Perpaduan: Membangun Malaysia Madani, Eksplorasi Rukun Negara and Unity Night Fun Run.

Over 3,000 visitors of various races and ages are expected to visit the celebration, themed ‘Unity in Diversity’. — Bernama
