KUALA LUMPUR, May 22 — Pacific Senior Living Sdn Bhd today said that it is working closely with authorities over the fire that occurred in the old Employees Provident Fund (EPF) building on Jalan Gasing, Petaling Jaya earlier today.

The company, which has signed a 30-year lease with EPF to open a senior living facility in the building, said that its priority is to ensure the building is safe and secure.

“We would like to assure the public and residents that we prioritise the safety and well-being of our contractors, staff and the community,” an official said.

They added that the building was unoccupied and no residents were present at the time of the fire.

“On behalf of Pacific Senior Living, we would like to record our deepest appreciation for the swift response and efforts of the firefighters and emergency personnel who diligently worked to control the fire and prevent further damage,” they said.

They also said that updates will be provided as further information becomes available.

The fire, which occurred on the fourth and fifth levels of the building, did not involve any victims, according to a Selangor Fire and Rescue Department spokesman.

According to a report by The Edge recently, the building had been scheduled to be reopened late next year as a senior living facility by Pacific Senior Living Sdn Bhd, which had signed a 30-year lease with EPF.
