KUALA LUMPUR, May 13 — The Supreme Leadership Council (MPT) of Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) has agreed that the election of divisions and MPT except branches be postponed for a period of not more than 18 months in accordance with clause 14.15 of the party’s Constitution.
Its secretary-general Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainudin in a statement today said the agreement was reached after an MPT meeting chaired by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin yesterday.
“Bersatu is fully prepared to face the elections in six states that will take place soon with all the strength of the party machinery being streamlined involving all the states in order to become a powerful force,” he said.
In the meantime, he said Bersatu and Perikatan Nasional (PN) are confident of a big win in the state elections by defending Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah and would work hard to capture Selangor, Negeri Sembilan and Penang.
At the same time, Bersatu also invited the public to the Perikatan Nasional Open House on May 21 at Raja Muda Musa Hall, Selangor State Youth and Cultural Complex, Section 7, Shah Alam from 8pm to 11pm. — Bernama
