JOHOR BARU, May 11 — Johor’s Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar graced the MRT Corp Hari Raya open house here today, where he was also updated on the Rapid Transit System Link (RTS Link) project between the state capital and Singapore.
The Sultan was met by Transport Minister Anthony Loke Siew Fook and the latter’s Singapore counterpart S. Iswaran during the event at Menara JLand here, which Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi also attended.
Sultan Ibrahim observed the ongoing RTS Link development at its construction site in Bukit Chagar from the 26th floor of Menara JLand.
He was also briefed on the project’s progress by MRT Corp chief executive officer Datuk Mohd Zarif Mohd.
The RTS Link is a four-kilometre shuttle service between Singapore at Woodlands North station and Malaysia at Bukit Chagar station here.
The project, which is due to be completed by the end of 2026, is now 35 per cent ready on the Malaysian side, while over 45 per cent of the construction has been completed in Singapore.
Once operational, the RTS Link will be capable of serving up to 10,000 passengers per hour in each direction, on journeys that will take about five minutes.
