SHAH ALAM, May 7 — Malaysian pilgrims, especially those from Selangor, are advised to maintain discipline and obey the rules set by the Saudi Arabian authorities while in the Holy Land, said Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah.

The Selangor Ruler also advised pilgrims to discuss with Tabung Haji (TH) officials if there are any grouses or problems.

“Don’t simply spread inaccurate news on social media because it only complicates matters and won’t solve the problem.

“I commend Tabung Haji (TH)for their dedication in ensuring that the welfare of our pilgrims is always taken care of,” he said at the state-level Perdana Haj Course organised by TH and the Selangor Islamic Religious Department at the Sultan Salahuddin Abdul Aziz Shah Mosque, here today.

Also present was Tengku Permaisuri of Selangor Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin.

Sultan Sharafuddin also reminded prospective pilgrims to take care of their health from now.

“Once you arrive in the Holy Land, if you have any health problems, seek treatment immediately at the Tabung Haji clinics in Makkah or Madinah,” he said.

Prospective pilgrims were also reminded to remain patient under all circumstances especially when in Arafah, Muzdalifah and Mina.

“Performing the Haj requires physical, mental strength and a clear understanding of the acts of worship. As such, prepare yourself well.

“While in the Holy Land, purify your intentions and use your time and energy to perform religious deeds to secure a mabrur (accepted) Haj and I urge everyone to help one another,” he said.

In the meantime, Sultan Sharafuddin urged the people to pray for his and Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin’s health as they too would be performing the Haj this year.

Some 6,000 prospective pilgrims from Selangor attended the Perdana Haj Course this year to improve their knowledge before departing for the Holy Land. — Bernama
