JOHOR BARU, April 20 — Johor Ruler Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar held an audience with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Istana Bukit Serene here today.
Sultan Ibrahim received Anwar at 3pm and the meeting ended after about an hour. Present during the visit was Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi.
A post on Sultan Ibrahim’s official Facebook said that Anwar presented the state monarch with details of the country’s development as well as that of Johor.
Sultan Ibrahim then drove Anwar to Senai International Airport for the prime minister’s flight back to Kuala Lumpur.
This is the third time that Sultan Ibrahim and Anwar have met in an official capacity since the latter took office.
The first was an official working visit in December last year at Istana Bukit Serene here.
This was followed by an impromptu visit by Sultan Ibrahim to the prime minister’s official residence, Seri Perdana, in Putrajaya on February 4.
Sultan Ibrahim is known to have a close relationship with Anwar.
On March 23, Sultan Ibrahim said he has been able to work well with Anwar as prime minister, compared to past heads of the Malaysian government.
The 64-year-old Sultan is also expected to be installed as the country’s next Yang di-Pertuan Agong, replacing Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah of Pahang.
