MELAKA, April 5 — The Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and the Raja Permaisuri Agong, Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah visited the Peringgit Ramadan Bazaar, here, today.
Their Majesties arrived at the bazaar at 4.45pm, with Al-Sultan Abdullah personally driving the official vehicle to the site.
Their Majesties were welcomed by state dignitaries led by the Yang Dipertua Negeri, Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam and Chief Minister Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh.
Also present were Deputy Youth and Sports Minister Adam Adli Abd Halim and state executive councillors.
Their Majesties, who spent about an hour there, also bought some food for the breaking of fast and spent some time mingling with visitors to the bazaar.
Some of the items Their Majesties bought were kuih keria, caramel pudding, martabak and roti jala.
About 1,000 people converged on the bazaar, which has over 100 stalls offering various delicacies and drinks for the breaking of fast, for a closer look at the Royal couple.
Al-Sultan Abdullah and Tunku Azizah then attended the official launch of Masjid Ar-Razzaq and a breaking of fast event in Pasir Puteh, Bachang, here.
Earlier, Their Majesties arrived at the Melaka International Airport in Batu Berendam in a special plane at 11.56 am to begin their two-day visit to the state.
