KUALA LUMPUR, March 20 — Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil said that the Finance Ministry will be the one to decide who is going to fill the chief executive officer (CEO) position that is currently vacant in Digital Nasional Berhad (DNB).
During a press conference today, Fahmi said that while DNB is one of the agencies under his ministry’s purview, appointing a board member is outside of his jurisdiction.
“DNB is one of the 12 agencies that the Communications and Digital Ministry oversees, but we do not make that decision.
“Any appointment (to the board of a) Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MoF Inc) entity will have to be referred to the Finance Ministry.
“God willing, you will know when you know,” he said when asked if a new DNB CEO will be named in the near future.
The CEO position has been vacant since March 11 after Ralph Marshall’s two-year contract ended on that day and was not extended by the government.
Marshall was appointed as CEO of DNB on March 1, 2021, after the Ministry of Finance announced DNB as a government special purpose company (SPV) to develop and maintain the 5G network through a single wholesale network (SWN) model.
Marshall is an industry veteran and has served in the highest positions of Astro and Maxis.
