KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 8 — The Federal Land Development Authority (Felda) hopes that the government can provide an allocation for the development of infrastructure in its settlements under Budget 2023.
Felda chairman Tan Sri Idris Jusoh said the agency needed cooperation from the government to provide infrastructure including water supply, electricity and a better and safer road network.
“Felda is in the transition process to become independent. However, we still need cooperation from the government, especially in providing infrastructure.
“There are several infrastructure programmes and additional utilities that need the government’s collaboration, especially in Felda Sahabat, (Lahad Datu) Sabah,” he told reporters after the 24th Kolej Yayasan Felda (KYF) convocation ceremony here today.
Earlier in his speech, Idris said KYF continued to move proactively to become a quality skills institution and produce competitive graduates in the globalised world.
Idris said KYF had made many achievements such as being the first college to carry out a dialysis programme to provide theoretical and practical skills to its students on dialysis which was recognised by the Malaysia Book of Records (MBOR).
“This recognition adds value to the skill training programmes offered by Yayasan Felda. This situation has proven that KYF has been recognised and continues to be relevant as a skills training centre for youths,” he said.
A total of 666 students collected their scrolls during the ceremony.
At the ceremony, MBOR presented Yayasan Felda with the Most Dialysis Machines Donated by An Organisation award for donating 58 dialysis machines to government hospitals and haemodialysis centres. — Bernama
