KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 7 — Former senator and Transparency International (TI) vice-chairman Tunku Abdul Aziz Ibrahim has died. He was 89.
According to a report by The Star, his death was announced by his nephew Datuk Tengku Azman Zainal Abidin in an Instagram post.
Tunku Abdul Aziz was a vice-chairman of DAP and its first senator from 2009 to 2012 before he quit the party that same year, citing “irreconcilable differences”.
He also helped to found Transparency International-Malaysia (TI-M), the anti-graft organisation’s local chapter in 1998, and served as TI’s vice-chairman from 1999 to 2002.
Tunku Abdul Aziz also served as a special adviser to former United Nations secretary-general, Kofi Annan, from February 2006 to January 2007.
