KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 5 — Communications and Digital Minister Fahmi Fadzil has wished Happy Thaipusam to all Hindus who will be celebrating the festival today.
“May the spirit of Madani Malaysia be able to further strengthen the relationship between all races and religions in Malaysia,” he said in a post on Facebook.
More than 300,000 visitors are expected to be at Batu Caves in conjunction with the Thaipusam festival which began yesterday evening until today, according to acting Selangor Police chief Datuk S. Sasikala Devi.
Falling in the month of ‘Thai’, the 10th month in the Tamil calendar, Thaipusam is celebrated by Hindus in conjunction with the birthday of Lord Murugan. — Bernama
