KOTA KINABALU, Jan 30 — Former foreign affairs minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman has been appointed as the special advisor to the Sabah chief minister for international relations and foreign investment.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor announced the appointment today, adding that Anifah received his official appointment letter at Menara Kinabalu earlier.

“I’m confident that Anifah, who has vast experience and international relations from his time as foreign minister can help foster deeper ties with other countries and bring in foreign investments to the state as per our investor friendly policies,” said Hajiji.

Anifah, 69, who is also a former Kimanis MP, had campaigned for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim during the the 15th general election last November.

He was formerly with Umno before resigning in September 2018 following the party's dismal showing in GE14, and is now the president of Parti Cinta Sabah.

Separately, Hajiji also received a courtesy call from Deputy Science, Technology and Innovation minister Datuk Arthur Kurup here today, and received a briefing on the ministry’s projects and collaborations in the state.
