JOHOR BARU, Jan 5 — Three people including a boy were rescued from their family house in Taman Gembira here that caught fire before dawn today.
Larkin Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Assistant Fire Superintendent Shamsul Khomari Bakar said a 19-man team from the Larkin and Tebrau fire stations and the Emergency Medical Rescue Services were deployed to the scene after a distress call was received at about 5am.
“A 70-year-old woman and a 10-year-old boy were found burnt, while an adult woman in her 30s was injured by glass shrapnel from a broken window,” he said in a statement.
He added that all three were rushed to the Sultan Ismail Hospital for medical treatment. About 60 per cent of the house was damaged in the fire.
