KUALA LUMPUR, Dec 20 — Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim urged federal lawmakers to be on their best behaviour while debating, after Dewan Rakyat fell into pandemonium on its first day of reopening yesterday.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said he has instructed Deputy Prime Minister ll Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof as the government’s Parliamentary whip chief to advise lawmakers on his side.
"I hope that the Opposition Parliamentary whip chief would do the same because we can debate and argue.
"But we need to take care of this noble House because we know that the people are watching and we don’t want it to be labelled as 'circus' on social media,” he told the Dewan Rakyat here.
Yesterday, the Dewan Rakyat erupted after Arau MP Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim stood up to argue on the motion of vote of confidence to prove Anwar's support as the prime minister.
Anwar survived athe vote of confidence via a voice vote yesterday, with no MPs calling for a bloc vote to be conducted.
Anwar is scheduled to table a special allocation or Mini Budget involving a total of RM107,718,676,650 in Dewan Rakyat today.
Budget 2023, which was prepared by the previous government led by Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, has not been approved or debated in Dewan Rakyat following the dissolution of Parliament on October 10.
