KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 7 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia Youth chief Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Kamal has today downplayed Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku's (STAR) plan to quit the coalition.

When asked to comment on whether the Sabah-based party's exit would impact the coalition’s performance, he simply said "no” and wished the party best in its future endeavours.

"I have never stopped any party from doing that, they have the same right as other parties to choose the line they want.

"So I wish STAR good luck because they have been with us all this time. We respect their decision,” he told reporters during a press conference.

On Monday, STAR president Datuk Seri Jeffrey Kitingan has reiterated his party’s intention to leave PN, saying an official announcement will be made soon.

Kitingan previously said STAR and the national coalition were “going in separate directions”, after his party supported Pakatan Harapan to form a unity government under the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah local alliance, but stopped short of saying it has officially quit.

Separately, Wan Fayhsal, who is also Machang MP, said that no discussion has been made on dissolving the state assemblies under PN.

"Thus far, we are not privy to the discussion on state level, parties still listen to inputs from state leadership whether it’s best to dissolve the state assemblies in three months' time. But our horizon is maybe in six months' time,” he added.

Six states did not dissolve their state assemblies concurrently during the recent general election, including three states which are governed by PN: Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu.
