SHAH ALAM, Dec 2 — Selangor’s Budget for 2023 was voted through today by the state legislative assembly.

At 5.30pm, Selangor Speaker Ng Suee Lim announced that the state’s Supply Bill (2023) was approved through a majority vote.

The Budget that Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari tabled on November 25 comprised RM1.25 billion (51 per cent) for operating expenditure and RM1.20 billion for development.

Amirudin said the state government has estimated a revenue collection of RM2 billion for next year, resulting in a deficit of RM293 million.

The mentri besar said the deficit has widened from this year due to disaster management preparations as a result of climate change and a provisional allocation to meet Selangor’s sustainable development needs.

New initiatives in this Budget included an on-demand van service under the Mobility Selangor programme which was allocated RM25 million and a cyber emergency response team worth RM20 million.
