KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 23 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) will announce its new election candidate for the Padang Serai parliamentary seat at 9pm today.
The announcement ceremony will be held at the Seraya Business Centre opposite Kulim Central in Kedah.
Padang Serai in Kedah and Tioman in Pahang are the only two seats where elections had been deferred, following the deaths of two candidates there.
PH candidate M. Karupaiya, who was defending the Padang Serai federal seat in the 15th general election, died on November 17 after suffering a fall on the campaign trail just two days before polling on November 19.
Md Yunus Ramli, the Perikatan Nasional candidate for the Tioman state assembly seat, died from heart complications on November 19, just hours before polling officially began at 8am.
The Election Commission has called for all candidates for the two seats to show up at their nomination centres tomorrow for the purpose of drawing lots to determine their position on the ballot paper.
Voters in Padang Serai and Tioman will cast their votes on December 7, with early voting on December 3.
