GEORGE TOWN, Nov 23 — DAP-led Penang is willing to discuss having state elections at the same time as Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu, Negri Sembilan and Selangor.
But Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow also said the final decision will be up to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) leadership.
“I will bring up the proposed period to hold state elections with the PH leadership, maybe May, June or July, it should be within that time frame,” he said in a press conference at the state legislative assembly here today.
He said the Penang state legislative assembly will reach its full term of five year on August 2 next year.
“The state assembly will stand to be dissolved if it was not dissolved before then,” he said.
Chow also said it will depend on when the states led by PAS decide to dissolve their respective legislative assemblies.
PH and PAS-led states had decided not to hold its state polls concurrently with the recent general election on November 19.
Penang, Selangor and Negri Sembilan are led by PH while Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu are led by PAS.
