PETALING JAYA, Nov 23 — PKR Youth chief Adam Adli Abd Halim today urged Malaysia's leaders not to use racial sentiments as a means to achieve political mileage, saying this would be detrimental to the country.

In light of the current political climate in the country, he asked that national unity be preserved.

"Please don't use racial sentiment. Don't destroy national unity for (your) self interests; GE15 is already over," said Adam when met by reporters outside PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's office here at Bukit Gasing.

When asked if there was any meeting taking place today, Adam said there was no special meeting, only a discussion on ongoing issues.

"Nothing, just need to discuss two or three things for example issues in relation to the people's sentiment, those are important too compared to this.

"So there are a few things at the Keadilan level that we need to monitor, especially racial sentiments which are said to be used to achieve political goals," he added.

Apart from Adam, several PKR leaders also arrived earlier including deputy president Rafizi Ramli and secretary-general Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Adam, who contested in the Hang Tuah Jaya seat under the Pakatan Harapan (PH) ticket, won against Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Datuk Mohd Ridhwan Mohd Ali (son of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Melaka Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam), GTA’s Sheikh Ikhzan Sheikh Salleh and PN’s Mohd Azrudin Md Idris.

Malaysia has yet to form a federal government or elect a new prime minister after GE15 last Saturday.

The Agong has also called for a meeting with the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara today, to be held tomorrow.

Royal Comptroller of Istana Negara Datuk Seri Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin said the King is seeking the views of his fellow Malay Rulers in reaching a decision on the current political deadlock.
