KOTA KINABALU, Nov 22 — Parti Warisan has expressed its support to Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) as the coalition that garnered the highest number of seats in the recently concluded 15th general election (GE15).

In a statement, party president Datuk Seri Shafie Apdal said that Warisan, which won three parliamentary seats in GE15, was giving its support to them because “both have the number of seats to form a government and the majority of the people have voted for Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional”.

“As such, Pakatan Harapan and Barisan Nasional should be given the first choice to form a government,” said Shafie.

“This support is also on the premise that the new federal government will resolve in full the 21 claims under the Malaysia Agreement of 1963.”

He ended the statement by saying that Warisan hopes that “the two national coalitions will be able to secure partners that will enable the formation of the next federal government that brings political stability and unity to the country”.

Shafie’s Warisan won the Semporna, Lahad Datu and Kota Belud seat.

The country’s Parliament is currently hung, following the inconclusive outcome of GE15, with PH and Perikatan Nasional both hoping to secure majority support to form a federal government.
