KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — Pahang DAP chief Leong Ngah Ngah said his party is ready to endorse Barisan Nasional’s (BN) Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail as mentri besar for a second term.
“We have decided to support Wan Rosdy, but the final decision will be made by the palace, and we will accept their decision,” said Leong.
According to a report by Astro Awani, Leong said although Pahang DAP had agreed to work with BN to form the state government, the negotiations will be done by Pahang Pakatan Harapan’s (PH) chairman, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
“We are already OK on our side. We will give BN time to sort out their issues.
“We have discussed and informed our Pahang chairman to have a discussion with Pahang BN to find the best solution.
“We expect good news to be announced today,” said Leong when contacted by Astro Awani.
He added that Pahang DAP did not submit the name of any mentri besar candidate because the party only won eight seats in the recently concluded state election and its focus is to bring stability and economic growth in a multiracial country instead of vying for the top post.
From Saturday’s state election results, Perikatan Nasional (PH) won 17 state seats, while BN won 16, and PH won nine.
This leaves the Pahang state assembly hung as no coalition secured the 22 seats needed for a simple majority.
