JOHOR BARU, Nov 22 — Barisan Nasional (BN) leader Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein said he is prepared to shoulder the responsibilities of being in the Opposition if there is no conclusion on the coalition’s cooperation with any political coalition.

In such a situation, he said, it is better for BN to be the Opposition than to join any political coalition.

“There’s a lot of speculation right now about what is going on.

“In any (political) formula or negotiation, my position is clear and I will not compromise (on it).

“If there is still no understanding and final word, it is better for BN to act as the Opposition and I am ready for that,” said Hishammuddin in his latest post on his official Facebook today.

The newly-elected Sembrong MP said that no matter what the situation, he will remain loyal to Umno then, now and forever.

“I will work hard to restore Umno and BN together with other friends,” said Hishammuddin, stating that he will stand by Umno “dulu, kini dan selamanya (before, now and forever)”.

His statement comes as Pakatan Harapan (PH) leaders wait to hear whether their BN counterparts have decided to commit to cooperation with them.

Malay Mail understands that Hishammuddin is currently leading a BN movement that is pushing the coalition be a credible Opposition front.

It is learnt that several senior Umno leaders and elected representatives have joined the movement in support of BN and its lynchpin party Umno to be a strong Opposition.

Yesterday, Hishammuddin insisted that the coalition has consistently rejected any cooperation with Pakatan Harapan (PH) to form a government.

The former senior minister added that he is willing to be sacked by the party, and will never change his stance.
