KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 — The number of flood victims in three states remained the same while a drop was recorded in Selangor as of 8am today compared to last night.
In Melaka, the number (flood victims) remains at 24 people from six families, according to the state Disaster Management Committee (JPBD) secretariat.
All the affected victims who were placed in the relief centre (PPS) at the Office of the State Legislative Assembly Development and Coordination Committee (Japerun), Durian Tunggal are from the Alor Gajah district involving Kampung Bukit Balai, Kampung Pulau and Kampung Belimbing.
In Johor, the number of flash flood victims remains at 179, with two districts still affected namely Tangkak and Segamat.
The state JPBD, in a statement, said all the victims consisting of 47 families are still being housed in four PPS.
The JPBD also said that there are two rivers at warning levels namely Sungai Muar (Buloh Kasap) and Sungai Muar (Kampung Awat) in Segamat while cloudy skies are reported in several districts including Mersing, Pontian, Segamat, Batu Pahat, Tangkak and Kulai.
In Kelantan, based on the Social Welfare Department’s (JKM) Disaster Information portal, the total number of flood victims in Rantau Panjang, Pasir Mas remained at 30 people involving six families and they have been placed at Sekolah Kebangsaan Tok Deh, Rantau Panjang.
In Selangor, the state JPBD secretariat, Civil Defence Force in Selangor said the number of flood victims dropped to 558 people from 154 families compared to 637 involving 172 families last night with 12 PPS opened — four in Sepang, Kuala Selangor (three) and Kuala Langat (five).
In PERAK, there was an increase of two flood victims in the state bringing the total number to 866 people from 243 families. All flood victims have been placed in nine PPS.
The Perak Public Works Department (JKR) reported that several roads in the Batang Padang and Muallim districts are open to all vehicles because the water levels have receded but several roads in the Manjung district are closed to all vehicles due to floods, especially Jalan Changkat Jering-Seri Manjung-Kampung Koh. — Bernama
