KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 21 — There are no conditions in the discussions to form a unity government between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN), including Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi’s court cases.
PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said there was no mention at all about the court case faced by his BN counterpart, adding that politics should not interfere with the judicial system — which are independent of each another.
“There was no reference at all to the issue of present or coming charges.
“I want to make it very clear it was not raised in the current meeting or the former meetings.
“Court is court. They are not bound by government’s decision. Let it (judiciary) be free,” he told a press conference at Seri Pacific Hotel today.
When asked about feelings of unhappiness among some PH supporters on the proposed coalition with their political foes BN, Anwar said no compromises would be made by PH who wanted to save the country.
“We have to proceed to form an inclusive government.
“We are the biggest bloc and have a comfortable (seat) but we still require support of more parties.
“The key focus here is on no compromise to governance, transparency and the economy,” he said.
Anwar, however, said there was no decision yet as to who will be his deputy should the plan come to fruition.
“For now, yes (I am the PM candidate).
“They (BN) did not suggest any other names in the discussions.
“On preference for DPM, let me assume the premiership first,” he said.
Zahid is currently facing a corruption trial in Shah Alam high court but he is not the only party leader in this predicament.
Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda) president and Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and DAP national chairman and Bagan MP Lim Guan Eng are also facing charges in court.
