KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 — Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has denied calling Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, purportedly over his prospects of winning the 15th general election, The Star reported this afternoon.

Acryl Sani was responding to a video clip in which Anwar claimed the country’s top policeman purportedly contacted him and asked him to be ready, as PH is expected to win 112 parliamentary seats today.

“It is not true [that I called him]. I don't intend to take action against him [Anwar]. Maybe he was caught up in the moment, as he was too excited while giving a ceramah and campaigning,” Acryl was quoted saying after visiting several polling centres in the Klang Valley.

The Star reported that in the 45-second video, Anwar claimed during a ceramah that PH has gained enough momentum and is set to win 112 parliamentary seats this time around. The voter turnout across Malaysia hit 58 per cent at 2pm, according to the latest figure released by the Election Commission.

This equates to approximately 12.125 million votes, which is also almost equivalent to the total turnout for the 2018 general election.
