KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 19 — Eleven polling stations in the Sarawak parliamentary constituency of Baram are on hold until further notice, the Election Commission (EC) said this afternoon.

The EC said the temporary suspension is due to bad weather conditions and flooding in several areas.

“The decision to suspend voting at 11 polling centres in the Baram parliamentary constituency division P220 is due to bad weather conditions, causing officers to be unable to reach their stations by air, land, or water.

“The new date of voting will be announced later when it is safe for staff and voters to reach the polling centre to vote,” EC chairman Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh said in a statement.

The voting centers affected are Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Naah (Station 1 and 2), Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Luteng (Station 2), RH TK Matthew Belulok Lalo Kpg. Lepo Gah (Station 1 and 2), Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Sait (Station 2), Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Tungan (Station 1 and 2), Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Moh (Station 1 and 2).

As well as Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Mekabar (Station 1), Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Jekitan (Station 1 and 2), Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Lamei (Station 2), Sekolah Kebangsaan Lio Mato (Station 1 and 2), and Sekolah Kebangsaan Long Banga (Station 1 and 2).
