KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 17 — The Customs Department today issued a clarification, insisting that the so-called raid on PKR deputy president Rafizi Ramli’s Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd was merely a “routine inspection”.
In dismissing Rafizi’s reported assertion, the department said it had not undertaken any raids against the data analytics firm to this date.
“In reference to an article published by Malaysiakini dated November 16, ‘MACC raids Rafizi’s office a second time, next will be Customs’, the department had issued a notice to Invoke Solutions Sdn Bhd for document inspections in matters relating to service tax as the company is registered under the Service Tax Act 2018.
“Document inspection is a routine procedure for audit verification purposes and to provide advisory service on the SST-02 Statement Declaration that the company has made to Customs Department,” it said in a statement.
The department also reminded the public to refrain from jumping to any conclusions as inaccurate reports as such could affect the department’s credibility.
Rafizi claimed that MACC’s second raid yesterday was prompted by a report filed by a non-governmental organisation against him for questionable assets, calling the commission to specifically investigate Invoke.
Rafizi had declared RM18,851,350 in net assets as of October 31 as part of PKR’s attempt to show a reformist image and transparency in its candidates running for public office.
MACC however denied raiding the office, and said it only sent four officers to collect some financial statements from Invoke.
