JOHOR BARU, Nov 15 — Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin today challenged Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim to back his allegation that his coalition was negotiating a post-election pact with Barisan Nasional (BN) in anticipation of neither coalition securing a majority.
Muhyiddin also accused the PKR president of being a “big liar” who is allegedly prone to making baseless allegations like his party deputy Rafizi Ramli.
“I challenge him on this. Where is the evidence that Anwar based his allegations on? Bring proof,” he told reporters after an event in Taman Sri Stulang here, referring to Anwar.
“You don’t just make allegations without basis, as we are competing against Umno.”
Earlier, about 100 residents from the Sri Stulang flats showed up at the event that introduced PN’s Johor Baru parliamentary candidate Mohd Mohtaj Yacob.
This comes as Pakatan Harapan chairman Anwar alleged earlier that senior BN and Perikatan Nasional (PN) leaders were already negotiating a post-election pact in anticipation of neither coalition securing a majority after November 19.
Anwar reportedly said the two supposed rivals were beyond the stage of feeling each other out, and were actively discussing the possibility of reuniting to form the next government.
“There has to be proof of the accusations that we met and conspired,” said Muhyiddin, referring to BN and PN.
PAS secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan had earlier expressed confidence in a PN victory at the 15th general election, after suggesting his party would join with BN to form the next government.
However, he was forced to walk this back by expressing “full confidence” that PN could win GE15 independently, after coalition chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the former was not authorised to discuss such matters.
