IPOH, Nov 13 — PAS election director Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor said only Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin is eligible to be the next prime minister as other candidates from Barisan Nasional (BN) and Pakatan Harapan (PH) are out of the race.
Sanusi said that BN’s candidate Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob has lost the support of the party to become the prime minister while PH’s candidate Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was a former convict.
"BN claim Ismail Sabri is their poster boy, but he lost his support from the party. Khairy Jamaluddin said he wants to clean up Umno.
"Basically the party has divided. How to become a prime minister like this? So Ismail Sabri is out of the race,” he said in his speech at the PN Tambun Tour here.
The Kedah Mentri Besar also said that Anwar, who is the PKR president was previously sacked from Umno due to moral issues, unlike the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president who was sacked by Umno for fighting against the 1MDB issue.
"Anwar always talks about morality, but in reality, he was charged with moral issues twice and convicted once.
"He is not eligible to lead the country as a prime minister. He is merely a DAP’s puppet. I’m here today to bury Anwar in Tambun and advice voters here to not vote for him,” he said.
Earlier, Sanusi was welcomed with a standing ovation and ‘takbir’ chant by around 1,000 PN supporters who braced the heavy downpour to show their support for the Islamic party leader.
Also present at the programme was Muhyiddin, who is also the PN president and Bersatu deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu.
