IPOH, Nov 9 — PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has today dismissed any possibility of infighting in the party, or misunderstanding between him and number two Rafizi Ramli.
The Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman said unlike Umno, PKR does not need total consensus where leaders must completely toe the line.
“Hishammuddin thinks this is Umno and, makes it seems like both of us are fighting. We are not like them,” he told a press conference after a meeting with Tambun pomelo farmers here.
Instead, he compared the situation to Umno where two leaders are allegedly jostling for the prime minister post: caretaker prime minister and vice-president Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, and president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.
“And now it involves three people with Khairy Jamaluddin joining the fight. He announced himself for the prime minister post,” he said, referring to a declaration made by the caretaker health minister while campaigning last night that he is ready to become prime minister in the future.
Anwar’s reply came after Barisan Nasional (BN) treasurer-general Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein lambasted Anwar and his deputy Rafizi, claiming that the duo does not have consensus and common understanding when it comes to the 15th general election.
Previously, Rafizi said that Pakatan Harapan (PH) can win 80 federal seats, while Anwar had said that it may win 90 to 100 seats.
“Rafizi made such a statement so that we can push all the machineries and candidates to work hard in order to get additional 15 seats to get the simple majority.
“Rafizi made the statement based on a survey and we need to take that into account,” Anwar added.
