KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — Public transport provider Rapid KL this morning announced that it is temporarily suspending operations at 16 stations on the Kelana Jaya Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line for one week from today until November 15 (Tuesday).

In a brief Facebook post, Rapid KL made this announcement without explaining the reason for the seven-day disruption to LRT stations from Ampang Park to Kelana Jaya.

“The operations for 16 LRT stations from the Kelana Jaya station to the Ampang Park station are suspended for seven days starting from today.

“Other stations are operating as usual and will end their services earlier, namely at 11pm,” it said in the Facebook post at 5.48am.

The 16 affected LRT stations include stations within the city’s key financial zone, such as the KLCC station, and main public transportation hubs, such as KL Sentral and Pasar Seni.

The affected stations, which will be temporarily shut for one week, are located along one continuous stretch of the Kelana Jaya LRT line.

They are Kelana Jaya - Taman Bahagia - Taman Paramount - Asia Jaya - Taman Jaya - Universiti - Kerinchi - Abdullah Hukum - Bangsar - KL Sentral - Pasar Seni - Masjid Jamek - Dang Wangi - Kampung Baru - KLCC - Ampang Park.

The other 22 LRT stations that will remain in operation but end services earlier at 11pm are the stations immediately before Ampang Park — namely Damai to Gombak — and the stations immediately after Kelana Jaya — namely Lembah Subang to Putra Heights.

In other words, these 22 stations are Damai - Dato Keramat - Jelatek - Setiawangsa - Sri Rampai - Wangsa Maju - Taman Melati - Gombak; and Lembah Subang - Ara Damansara - Glenmarie - Subang Jaya - SS 15 - SS 18 - USJ 7 - Taipan - Wawasan - USJ 21 - Alam Megah - Subang Alam - Putra Heights.

In a separate Facebook post at 6.08am, Rapid KL highlighted that it will be providing free feeder bus services along five routes, covering stations affected by the LRT service suspension.

The five routes include the “LRT 1” route, which is a non-stop bus service linking only the Ara Damansara LRT station with the Pasar Seni LRT station, and the “LRT 2” route, which is a non-stop bus service linking only the Ara Damansara LRT station with the Kelana Jaya LRT station.

The “LRT 3” route will feature a free bus service making a stop at all 11 affected LRT stations stretching from Kelana Jaya LRT station to Pasar Seni LRT station, effectively acting almost like a parallel service to the suspended LRT service.

In other words, the “LRT 3” free bus service route will be Kelana Jaya - Taman Bahagia - Taman Paramount - Asia Jaya - Taman Jaya - Universiti - Kerinchi - Abdullah Hukum - Bangsar - KL Sentral - Pasar Seni.

There will also be the “LRT 4” route which is a free bus service linking the Pasar Seni LRT station with its immediate neighbour Masjid Jamek LRT station.

The “LRT 5” route will feature a free bus service covering the route from the Masjid Jamek LRT station to the Damai LRT station, or in other words it will stop at Masjid Jamek - Dang Wangi - Kampung Baru - KLCC - Ampang Park - Damai.

Facebook users posted comments under this announcement of the free bus services, with some asking for alternative routes to get to their destination after the LRT services were suspended, while others shared alternative routes featuring a mix of other rail services, such as the MRT, Monorail and Ampang/Sri Petaling LRT lines, as well as on foot.

Other Facebook users were seen asking about the frequency for the free bus services connecting the affected LRT stations.

In the latest Facebook post posted at around 9am, Rapid KL said it has added nine buses to the “LRT 1” route, three buses to the “LRT 3” route, and eight buses to the “LRT 5” route.
