KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 9 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim today said that he has already declared his assets, in line with the coalition’s fight against corruption.
He added that his declaration was only slightly delayed as he had to sign a statutory declaration (SD) before a lawyer or a commissioner of oath.
"I was away, I was in Johor, I didn't come back, I only came back this morning to sign the SD. The asset declaration was ready days ago," he told reporters after his speech at the “Ada apa dengan korupsi” event this afternoon.
Anwar, who is standing for election in the Perak parliamentary constituency of Tambun, said had rushed back here at 2am from his campaign trail to sign the SD.
He also said that leaders of other political parties should also declare the assets that they own.
"They should have the courage to ask them to declare their assets, not enough to submit to the prime minister. Their decision by the party is a good decision, should declare and then face the public.
“You must demand declaration of assets by the rich leaders of PAS, Bersatu, hundreds of millions of dollars, they should declare their assets," said Anwar, who is also PKR president.
Earlier at the same event, PKR communications director Fahmi Fadzil also told the audience that Anwar had declared his assets, but that there seemed to be a glitch with the website.
