SEBERANG JAYA, Nov 6 — Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim received a huge ovation and cheers from the crowd here after he lauded Penang voters for looking past racial rhetorics and showing their loyalty to Pakatan Harapan (PH) for years.

In a dig at on-and-off political enemy Tun Dr Mahathir Moahamad, Anwar said the Gerakan Tanah Air chairman is just obsessed with standing in the way of him becoming a prime minister and leading the country.

"The day I get to be prime minister Mahathir will have a fever," he said eliciting the loudest cheer from the crowd.

"But I will still wish him well," he added.

Recalling the time when Umno MPs had signed statutory declarations showing their support to him to become prime minister, Anwar said he will never ally himself with them.

"That's why I will never work or negotiate with people who have court cases and who are corrupt. I will fight them."

"Help us win all the seats in Penang so the good policies here continue," he told the supporters gathered.

Anwar had earlier arrived at 10.20pm to the rousing song "Eye Of The Tiger" by American rock band Survivor, before taking an aim and Islamist party PAS' racial and religious rhetorics ahead of the election.

"You look at PAS and what they're saying about us being communists and so on. Let me ask you guys, does Ramkarpal Singh look like a communist? Lest we forget Datuk Seri Hadi Awang did hug Lim Guan Eng like a brother when it suited him. So he wasn't communist then?

"This is what I call bad propaganda that is bad for Malays. There is a huge difference between fact and slander and we must learn to differentiate them," he told the huge crowd at the Seberang Jaya Expo Park.

Parti Amanah Negara Mohamad Sabu said Penang voters need to continue supporting PH in order to stem the alleged embezzlement in the Ministry of Defence.

"All the infrastructures in the ministry are collapsing but the ministers are still living well.

"They shop at Harrods, buy expensive watches. Mind you, Harrods is in London not Alor Setar," the former defence minister said to laughter, referring to the upscale British chain.

"Please, we need to stop this nonsense, save our country and ensure all seats PH are competing in, we win," he said.

Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow had earlier taken a trip down memory lane when he recalled how voters in Malaysia came out in droves to vote for Pakatan Harapan in 2018.

"After 20 years of the Reformasi movement we won several states like Penang, Selangor, Perak and more. Who would have thought this movement started by Anwar would galvanise the public to oppose Barisan Nasional.

He said although PH and its supporters were disappointed with the so-called "Sheraton Move", they now face a second chance to wrest Putrajaya back.

"Do we want to miss this second chance?" he asked, with the crowd shouting "no".

"Good, I believe many have shared this live talk on social media so let the word spread that we should not miss this opportunity."

There are a total of 13 parliamentary seats in Penang. DAP is incumbent in seven, PKR four, BN one and PN one.
