Pick a party with a good track record instead of following others or your own heart, BN deputy chief tells voters

REMBAU, Nov 5 — Barisan Nasional (BN) deputy chairman Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan today called on Malaysians not to be influenced by other people’s opinions or even follow their own “feelings”, but to vote for the party that has a “proven track record” in government for the sake of stability.

The BN candidate for Rembau who is contesting in a parliamentary seat for the first time said the 15th general election was called early so that the country can have stability.

“That is why this GE15, I hope and I pray that the rakyat will have a clear mind and will not follow their feelings, emotion and what others say.

“The important thing is to pick a party that has a good track record, that has governed for a long time,” the former four-term Rantau assemblyman told reporters after filing his candidacy at the Dewan Seri Rembau nomination centre here this morning.

He added that Malaysia had been a “well managed and developed” country before the 14th general election.

“The new government will definitely have to be one that is stable as the country is in need of a stable government, just like before.

“Because since the 14th general election in 2018, the government became unstable and they failed to manage the country well.

“And when the country wasn’t managed well, there was no benefit. At the same time, economic growth was stunted,” he added.

Mohamad, better known as Tok Mat, hoped voters will give a fair assessment to all the parties and coalitions that had been part of the government in the last four years and make a sound judgment on who should be given the mandate to form the next government after polling day on November 19.

Malaysia has been under BN rule for over six decades until Election 2018 when it was defeated by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) coalition.

The PH coalition collapsed just under two years in February 2020 following a spat of political defections that led to the creation of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition.

The PN government also collapsed in under two years following another round of crossovers, which resulted in an alliance government between PN and BN.

The political musical chairs have continued to this day.
