MUAR, Nov 5 — Muar is set for a three-way battle between the Malaysian United Democratic Alliance (Muda), Barisan Nasional (BN) and Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Muar's incumbent, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, will contend against Abdullah Husin who is the former Puteri Wangsa state assemblyman from Pas and Mohd Helmy Abd Latif from Umno.
Returning officer Datuk Mustaffa Kamal Shamsudin announced the confirmed candidates a short moment ago.
In the 14th general election (GE14), Syed Saddiq had been the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) Youth chief and contested the Muar seat for Pakatan Harapan (PH).
The young politician won with a majority of 6,953 votes to defeat Umno’s incumbent MP at the time Datuk Seri Razali Ibrahim, and PAS candidate Abdul Aziz Talib.
Muda, an electoral partner to PH, had announced its candidates for five federal seats: Kota Marudu, Tanjung Piai, Tanjong Karang Kepala Batas and Muar.
