KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 4 — Voters in the Klang Valley can travel to their hometowns with free bus rides provided by a group of non-governmental organisations (NGO) for the coming 15th general election (GE15).

The three NGOs — KLSCAH Civil Rights Committee, Sayangi Kinrara, and SKLHA Youth — said the service will be open to all eligible voters and bus seats will be given allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

“All free buses will be departing from Dewan Masyarakat BK2 in Puchong, which is located near the Kinrara BK5 LRT station, at 8pm on November 18.

“The eight routes are (from Puchong to) Tangkak - Yong Peng - JB - Pontian; Muar - Batu Pahat; Kuantan; Penang; Ipoh - Taiping; Alor Star; Kota Bharu and Kuala Terengganu,” the group said.

It also offers a return bus ride back to Dewan Masyarakat BK2 in Puchong on polling day (November 19). The bus will depart at 6pm.

Those interested will have until November 16 to register through this Google Form at https://bit.ly/3sQecj7.

“All successful applicants will be notified by the organiser via WhatsApp from now until Nov 16. Applicants must present the WhatsApp message as proof on the day of departure,” their statement said.

The group assured that they would not ask applicants about their political preferences or not push applicants to vote for specific political parties.

“With the implementation of the Undi 18 and automatic voter registration, we hope that this initiative will encourage more voters to return (to their) hometown and cast their votes.

“By doing this, they will exercise their civic responsibility, and decide the future of our political parties and country,” they said.
