IPOH, Nov 2 — Barisan Nasional (BN) did not name the individuals contesting four state seats in Perak during the coalition’s announcement of its 15th general election candidates today.

As he ran through the list, state BN chairman Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad did not mention who would be contesting the state seats of Aulong, Jelapang, Sungkai and Buntong.

Saarani said that the BN component parties are having a meeting to finalise the candidates for the remaining seats.

“MIC is having a meeting in Kuala Lumpur on that matter. I will announce the names once they are finalised,” he told a press conference after unveiling the BN candidates at the Hotel Casuarina Meru here.

Previously, Aulong was contested by Gerakan, while Jelapang, Sungkai and Buntong were contested by MIC on a BN ticket.

Perak has 59 state seats and BN had previously announced that the coalition planned to contest all of them.

Earlier, Saarani announced that he will defend the Kota Tampan seat.

He also added that all five Umno members, who held the state executive councillors post, namely Datuk Mohd Zolkafly Harun (Lintang), Datuk Seri Shahrul Zaman Yahya (Rungkup), Datuk Dr Wan Norashikin Wan Nordin (Kampung Gajah), Khairul Shahril Mohamed (Bota) and Ahmad Saidi Mohamad Daud (Changkat Jering) will defend their respective seats.

For the Sungai Manik and Tualang Sekah seats which is currently held by Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin and Datuk Nolee Ashilin Mohammed Radzi, who previously contested under Umno ticket and defected to Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu), Saarani said Datuk Abdul Rahman Md Som and Datuk Ibrahim Katop will be fielded respectively for the seats.

Other Umno candidates who will be defending the state seats are Datuk Aznel Ibrahim (Pengkalan Hulu), Salbiah Mohamed (Temengor), Datuk Muhammad Amin Zakaria (Batu Kurau), Datuk Sham Mat Sahat (Alor Pongsu), Mohamad Nor Dawoo (Selinsing), Mohd Kamaruddin Abu Bakar (Kuala Sepetang), Jamilah Zakaria (Trong), Khairudin Abu Hanipah (Belanja), Datuk Khairuddin Tarmizi (Hutan Melintang), Datuk Mohd Azhar Jamaluddin (Changkat Jong) and Mohd Zaidi Aziz (Slim).

Meanwhile, Rohaida Mohamad Yaakub will be replacing Datuk Mohd Tarmizi Idris for Kenering seat, Saliza Ahmad will be replacing Muhammad Amin Zakaria for Batu Kurau, Khairuddin Mohamed Azahari will be replacing Datuk Zainun Mat Noor for Chenderoh, Mohamad Azir Ismail will be contesting in Lubok Merbau replacing Jurij Jalaluddin, Mustafa shah Abdul Hamid for Manong replacing Mohd Zuraimi Razali, Azman Noh for Pengkalan Baru replacing Abd Manaf Hashim, Ishsam Shahruddin for Ayer Kuning replacing Samsudin Abu Hassan.

Saarani also said that Pangkor seat will be filled by Datuk Norzaman Man as incumbent Datuk Seri Zambry Abd Kadir will be contesting the Lumut parliamentary seat, while the Bukti Chandan seat will be contested by Azizul Rahim Abdul Rahman as incumbent Maslin Sham Razman will be running for the Kuala Kangsar parliamentary seat.

Selama will be contested by Faizul Rizal Zulkifli, Osman Ahmad (Kubu Gajah), Shahrul Nizam Razali (Titi Serong), Mohd Jamil Yahaya (Kuala Kurau), Nazirul Jamaluddin (Gunung Semanggol), Datuk Ahmad Shahlimin Ahmad Sheffie (Kamunting), Ang Sun Eng (Pokok Assam), Pan Chean Chang (Jalong), Datuk Azizul Kama Abd Aziz (Manjoi), Datuk Mazlan abd rahman (Hulu Kinta), Woo Kok Toong (Canning), Khoo Boon Chuan (Tebing Tinggi) and Soo Poh Yeow (Pasir Pinji).

Also listed were Ho Wai Mun (Bercham), Lim Huey Shan (Kepayang), Phoon Kai Mun (Menglembu), Leong Chee Wai (Tronoh) Looi Tuan Gin (Pantai Remis), Dr Cheng Lee Chong (Astaka), Chin Woo Kheong (Malim Nawar), Ng Wah Leng (Keranji), Datuk Hang Tuah Din (Sungai Rapat), Lee Wai Yin (Simpang Pulai), Liew Yee Lin (Teja), Choong Shin Heng (Chenderiang), Mohd Rafiq Mohd (Pasir Panjang), Kong Sun Chin (Pasir Bedamar) and Salina Samsudin (Behrang).
