KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 — J.R Deepak Jaikishan, a former associate of incarcerated Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, is set to be contesting the Pulai parliamentary seat for Perikatan Nasional (PN).
Deepak, who owns a carpet business and is now an open critic of Najib and Rosmah, will be contesting under PN components Gerakan’s ticket.
The matter was announced during the event where PN revealed its GE15 candidates at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (Mitec) here today.
Deepak first gained infamy after being linked to the 2006 murder scandal of Mongolian model Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Private investigator P. Balasubramaniam had alleged in late 2009 that Deepak and Mohammad Nazim Razak — Najib’s younger brother — had forced him to withdraw a sworn testimony linking the then prime minister to the murder of Altantuya.
In 2013, Deepak admitted having a hand in the matter.
Since then, Deepak has filed various suits against Najib and Rosmah, for matters such as defamation and unsatisfactory business dealings, although it is unclear what caused the falling out.
He has since gone on to allege that he was in Najib’s home when the latter supposedly gave the order to kill Altantuya.
