KUCHING, Oct 31 — Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is confident Sarawak young voters especially those aged 18 to 20 as well as first-time voters would be wise in making their choice at the 15th general election (GE15).

Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) vice-president Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said such voters can make their own evaluations based on the current political scenario and choose the right candidates.

“Even though they are voting for the first time, they are a learned group and they are able to see for themselves rather than being swayed by this party or that party, this candidate or that candidate they should be choosing.

“Don’t underestimate the youth, I’m very confident the youth in Sarawak will be with us (GPS),” he told reporters after a media conference on Deka Fit Sarawak 2022 here today.

Based on Election Commission (EC) statistics, 129,034 young voters aged between 18 and 20 in Sarawak are eligible to vote in GE15. GPS comprised four component parties namely PBB, Sarawak United Peoples’ Party (SUPP), Parti Demokratik Progresif (PDP) and Parti Rakyat Sarawak (PRS). — Bernama
